When complete, the 7 Acres greenhouse will be 342,000 square feet and capable of producing 50 tons of cannabis a year.
While most producers grow cannabis under artificial lights in a warehouse, 7 Acres utilizes a massive hybrid greenhouse in Kincardine, Ontario. When complete, the greenhouse will be 342,000 square feet — roughly the equivalent of six football fields or a little more than seven acres, thus the name — and capable of producing 50 million grams of sun-grown cannabis per year.
7 Acres' parent company, the publicly-traded Supreme Pharmaceuticals, aims to see the facility's production skyrocket from 100kg/month of medical-grade cannabis the test grow room currently produces, to about 1,000kg/week with close to 30 grow rooms at peak.
Originally envisioned as a six- to 10-year project with about about 100 employees will now staff upwards of 300 employees at full capacity.
Supreme Pharmaceuticals objective for 7 Acres is to make the facility “One of, if not the largest cultivator here in Canada,” quoting Supreme Pharmaceutical's chief executive officer John Fowler.
John Fowler, also goes on to say:
Once we complete the greenhouse on the timeline that's anticipated we'll be near the top in terms of production, but getting that number one spot will mean expansion beyond this greenhouse here
The 7 Acres facility make use of HOVE Cannabenches using metal gutturs instead of plastic ebb & flood linings.
This design allows for a much better air flow in the greenhouse and between individual plants, and minimises the possibility of mildue appearing under the tables.
